Some things I love about China are the really small things. I love that flowers bloom when it rains. They dot the trees and shrubs like sprinkles on a very green and brown cake. They are small and subtile and tell of God’s eye for details. These flowers were placed here for beauty and color. I love the way it cools down at night here. … Continue reading I love…
So I haven’t written a blog about discipleship for a very long time. I haven’t been sure about what to write. But once again, I have a clear thought. Our lives here in China, aren’t easy. Nothing goes according to plan… NOTHING. One minute things are working and the next you are in tears because it doesn’t. I’ve written about this before about China. The … Continue reading Comfort
WARNING: This blog post has a graphic photo and stories about… well… poop. But its really funny I think. So only read it if you are not faint of heart. This blog is dedicated to Mike, you were right. Before coming to China, Nick’s friend Mike had warned us that people poop on the streets here. I thought and proclaimed that it could not be … Continue reading Human Feces &etc.
These are a few appropriate photos of Nick’s 29th Birthday. We learned that in China you turn one the day you are born… so Nick is really 30. So congrats Nick on turning 2 years older yesterday! Happy Birthday to my best friend and adventure partner. Continue reading A KTV Birthday
I’m not sure if this is on the news in America… but we are experiencing record heat in China right now. Seriously. Its been on average 100*F here with the heat index reaching 115*F. All the moisture in the air (80-90% humidity) with no chance of rain… it feels like you’re swimming. I personally have lost all of my water weight. But we are thankful that … Continue reading House Hunters International
Onto the second day. We are now meeting more teachers. Our school has grown so much this summer, there are over 70 new English speaking teachers arriving in China. Yesterday, Nicholas and I were able to visit our school and we are VERY impressed. The school is huge and everything is pristine. I will post some photos of it on this photoblog. Today we had breakfast … Continue reading Then there was light.
I am uncertain what time it is. Well, I know its 4:00pm in Denver, and 3:00pm in Los Angeles. I know its 6:00am in Shanghai. But my body… Has no clue how to process this time change. Nicholas and I have had a weird sleep schedule the last few weeks, I’ll write about it here. But it was a perfect plan: Stay up all night … Continue reading Time Travel
All good road trips have a theme. Ours happened to be about Dinosaurs (in honor of Jurassic World). All the photos are in chronological order. I’ll list our locations as best I can. Enjoy! Continue reading The Dinosaur Road Trip
Alright folks, as promised, I told you I would update the blog again after we received our visas. We dont technically have them in hand but we will be picking them up from the Passportsandvisas.com office in Denver on Thursday. All in all, it was a really smooth process. We were in the office a total of 10 minutes including wait time. The woman who … Continue reading Anxious Days Ahead
