Doctor x2

For those of you about to come to China on a Z visa:

We were required to get a medical checkup and full blood workup done prior to obtaining our visas. We went to the doctor and were poked and prodded, x-rayed and looked at. Everything they asked for, we did. And still, when we arrived in China, we were booked an appointment at a Chinese doctor’s office so that we could be cleared, medically speaking.

This really wasn’t a huge issue. It was just an extra expense, extra time and one more needle. Oh well. The entertaining part of the trip was going with 30 other foreigners to the office. We were lined up for chest x-rays first and then sent upstairs. Once upstairs, we visited 5 different offices with a doctor in each. The tests they did were: Blood draw (HIV), Height/weight/eye exam, ECG, Blood pressure, ultrasound (not sure why). Super quick and easy.

My advice, wait to visit the doctor until you land in China… if you can.
